1927 Estero School on Broadway

This school was deeded in 1925 by J. Dudley Andrews (bother of the Koreshan, Allen Andrews) and his wife, to the Lee Board of Public Instruction. It opened in 1927 at the cost of $24,120.00. Its principal was R.C. Maddox and its three teachers were Miss Minnie Lee Womble, Miss Lois Sandord and Miss Mary Leitner. It had four rooms with two grades in each room. They were proud to have an indoor bathroom.

It closed in 1949 when county schools were consolidated. The next year it was leased to the Estero Community and Home Organization (ECHO) for 20 years. It has been a private home for many years now.
