“We have come a long way.” was often said at the  lunch this year. How very true. Our first “Holiday Lunch at the Park” was held  in the parking spaces in front of the cottage and school house. The  Brooks Brothers played on the shaky porch of the school house. The next year we  had more tents for our guests to sit under out of the hot sun. Finally we had  the deck finished. At each of these luncheons we server Chick A Fil lunches.

Chairperson Beverly MacNellis said that someone told her that they were  tired of eating the bag lunches from Chick A Fil. We only eat them once a year  but she also had to agree that the menu had to change.

With the great help of the  board and members a full turkey and ham, dressing, gravy, corn, cranberries,  baked potato, applesauce, rolls and a slice of pumpkin pie was served to each  guest under the new “shade sails“.

The Brooks Brothers  came back again this year to please, again, those eating lunch, by popular  demand.

Door prizes were given  out. Joann Luce, volunteer-member, made all the  table center pieces. She donated them all for the door prizes. They were  chosen before the usual coffee table books that are given out each year in the  past.

“It was a perfect day”, Chair MacNellis commented. We were ready for the lunch before time. We had enough food  and hot. Everyone loved it. The band played Christmas music, the volunteers  stayed and cleaned up and Dave Pryal put ALL the tables and chairs up by himself. Dave is our  super star.
